Sara Graves | LPC
Sara has wanted to connect with people and learn what makes them tick for as long as she can remember. Whether that was elaborate imaginative play as a kid, writing epic fantasy novels in middle school (that focused way to much on the internal monologue instead of the action), or being called the ‘class counselor’ in high school, it always came back to exploring the needs, fears and goals of people (and characters!) she cared about.
Sara went on to get her Bachelors in Psychology from Whitworth University, and her Masters in Counseling at Multnomah University. Following graduation, she began working in community mental health, providing support of all kinds to people experiencing everything from houselessness and joblessness to severe mental illness, trauma and addiction.
Over time Sara narrowed her clinical focus to healing relationships of all kinds - whether that’s exploring clients’ relationship with themselves, their partner, or even their relationship to their pets! (Feel free to ask more about that.) First and foremost, her goal is to form a relationship with her clients based on mutual respect and collaboration. Counseling is a unique relationship based on respect for a client’s knowledge of their own pain points and needs, and Sara’s experience and training.
In her free time, Sara is a giant nerd who loves spending time with her husband watching the most recent Star Wars show, chasing her toddler around, or snuggling up with her cats (and hopefully a dog soon!).
